The original cast of criminologists have largely remained throughout the years with the original series currently in the eleventh season. Probably the most popular cast member is Gil Grissom (William Petersen) who led the CSI team in the first nine seasons. A highly intelligent scientist, Grissom often left his co-workers somewhat confused by his unique approach but was also portrayed as a father figure.

Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) is the new shift supervisor, but has been with the show since it began. Nick Stokes (George Eads), Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan), and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) are the other key cast members from the original CSI. Laurence Fishburne has also recently joined the cast replacing the outgoing Grissom.
